What is Oracle Analytics Cloud?
Oracle Analytics Cloud is a comprehensive cloud-based analytics platform, to enable businesses to gain valuable insights from their data. It includes a range of tools for data preparation and data visualisation.
On the advanced analytics side, it includes features such as machine learning, predictive analytics, and natural language processing, allowing users to uncover patterns, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Machine Learning in Oracle Analytics Cloud
It is nothing new to have Machine Learning utilized within OAC, in fact this has been the case for several years now, to the point where machine learning is embedded into every aspect of the analytics process, from data to decision. There are times when you’re utilising machine learning, without even realising!
OAC presents numerous recommendations on how to augment and prepare your data during the prepare stage of loading, ensuring it is fit for purpose. There are several options, including splitting columns, enriching, and extracting elements of a field, even obfuscating personal identifiable information.
What are some examples of Machine Learning available in OAC?¹
Advanced
Analytics
Add a range of analytical options into your dataset with one-click, including:
- Forecasts
- Trend lines
- Clusters
- Reference lines
Explain
Functionality
Examines a dataset to automatically identify key business drivers, contextual insights, and anomalies.
Auto-Insights
Utilises Machine Learning to identify and generate visual insights automatically on any dataset.
Oracle Analytics Cloud capabilities have been taken to another level, with the introduction of Generative AI into Oracle Analytics Cloud.
AI Services integrated with Oracle Analytics Cloud
The integration of Oracle AI Services into OAC is transforming the landscape of how users interact with analytics.
Rather than dragging data elements into a project, users are now able to begin an analysis using natural conversation, posing questions, and engaging in follow-up discussions.
“Your everyday language becomes the new query language for all data repositories.”
Barry Mostert (Oracle) - Senior Director, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics
Embedding Generative AI was demonstrated at Oracle Cloud World 2023 – with a great example below from Barry Mostert, Senior Director, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics from Oracle.³
You can now see that it’s possible for business users and analysts to generate visualisations directly from a business question or instruction such as:
“how do my Q4 sales compare to the same period last year” –> create visualisation
“create a calculation for average number of calls closed by agent” –> create calculation
What next for Oracle AI Services and OAC?
As of today, integration with other Oracle AI Services is already in place, with AI Vision, AI Document Understanding⁴ and AI Anomaly Detection available and integrated seamlessly into OAC.
Over time, OAC expects the gradual availability of additional AI Services to expand the AI/ML capabilities within Oracle Analytics Cloud.
